My name is Evelyn Jimenez. I have started this GoFundMe account for my brother in law and his wife, Yeimy Jimenez. They have 3 beautiful daughters, with their last one being born May 04, 2017.
One morning in 2013 Yeimy drank coffee and got heartburn, the next day the same thing happened. She thought it so strange and decided to go to the doctor. The doctor said she saved her life. People usually start popping and tums and think nothing about the symptoms until it’s too late. Within 4 weeks of her first appointment, she had her stomach removed due to stomach cancer. She spent the next few months doing chemo and radiation treatment. She was always in good spirits and knew everything was going to be alright. At one point during treatment, she asked the doctors if she could later have a baby and they said most likely no with all the radiation she had to her abdomen, her ovaries were probably destroyed.
Fast forward to May 4th, 2017 she delivered a beautiful baby girl named Lupita. About 3 weeks after Lupita was born she started throwing up and not able to keep her food down. After 2 weeks of this, her husband insisted she go to the ER. They found out she had an intestinal blockage. They weren’t sure if it was radiation scars or a tumor. After a few days at Condell, they transfer her to University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago, where they were going to do the surgery to remove the blockage. The surgeon was not able to do anything. She has intestinal cancer. As this time there is too much fluid in her abdomen to start chemotherapy. She was sent home on Saturday. Currently they are draining the fluid so hopefully, they can start chemo. She is on TPN (liquid nutrition) being feed thru an IV because of the blockage. So now it is a waiting game. The insurance only provides a nurse 1 a week for blood draws.
The funds with be used to help pay for living expenses. Her husband Alfredo has run out of sick time and vacation and currently not receiving any income while he takes care of Yeimy and their daughters. I would like to see him be able to take his 12 weeks of FMLA to care for his family. Other expenses are medications, home health care, and just basic expenses.
