6 years - almost half of my life. Sometimes I wonder what has kept me going all these years. What ignited a fire under me when I just wanted to stop? Maybe it was the love of this sport, or it was the support I got from the everyone around me: Walnut Creek Aquanuts coaches and community, my friends, my family?
My dream to pursue on to the Olympics has never faltered; nor has the ongoing support from my coaches, family and friends, telling me that I could and I would. During competition season, I train 20+ hours per week, sacrificing my social life and sometimes sleep.
Hard work paid off. Since last time when you supported me for 11-12 National Team, I won 2 Golds at the Pan American Championship and a Grand Slam 5-time National Champion title in 2016.
This summer, I qualified onto the Synchronized Swimming National Team USA, and we will be competing at the Comen Cup (World Championship for 13-15 teams) in Portugal. We will have the most amazing coaches to learn from, including Sara Lowe (2004 Olympic Medalist and Stanford Head Coach), Megan Azebu (Stanford Assistant Coach), Heather Carrasco (1996 Olympic Gold Medalist) and Elvira Khasyanova (Three-time Olympic Gold Medalist), as well as a group of hard-working athletes and friends.
Asking for financial support makes me feel uncomfortable, but if I could help my mom pay half of the total cost of the National Team Training ($6,000), my dream would come true. I am thankful for everything that she does for me, and I would like to have a chance to give back to her.
