Next semester I have decided to go on a mission trip through an organization called Youth With a Mission (YWAM). YWAM is a worldwide organization with thousands of bases spread across the globe. Their mission is to know God and make Him known. Thousands of people have been transformed by participating in this organization since it was founded in 1960. I’ll be taking part in a Discipleship Training Program (DTS) designed to transform how young believers approach their relationship with God and learn to serve Him in a whole new way.
YWAM is a mission organization that’s split up into two phases:
The first phase is the lecture phase. Starting in January, I will be living at a base in Orlando, Florida for three months to prepare for the missional outreach ahead. In this portion I’ll be growing in my relationship with God by attending lectures and hearing from motivational speakers from around the world. I will get the chance to grow in community with other believers who have the same passion—spreading the gospel. During this phase, my team and I will spend time in prayer to discern where God is calling us to go. I can’t wait to hear from God in a way I’ve never experienced.
The next phase is the outreach phase. I’ll be sent into another country to disciple and serve the people there for two months. I’m excited to take the next steps in boldness in my faith by sharing the gospel. This is an incredible opportunity to experience a new culture and reach people who have never heard the name Jesus. I’m looking forward to being the hands and feet of Jesus by showing people how to experience the fullness of His love.
Despite the uncertainty of 2020, I feel called to take part in DTS. I’m passionate about bringing the gospel and God’s love to people who have not experienced it before. I’m not sure where God wants to lead me in the future, but I know that this is where He’s calling me to go right now. Through this mission, I feel God will reveal His perfect plan for me. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to see God move.
I’m so excited to see what all God has in store for the next few months. However, I’m in need of your prayers and/or your financial support to allow me to go on this mission. The lecture phase of the mission will be $4,305 and the outreach phase will be $4,795. This would go towards housing, meals, transportation and supplies.
