The Conscious Connect is a non-profit organization with the goal to #EndBookDeserts in Ohio by 2021. We are a neighborhood organization embedded in the streets with, for, by and of everyday folks as an organization that seeks communal upward mobility.
Words on Wheels
The mission of Words on Wheels is to boost the love of reading through interactive educational experiences by bringing books to communities where book deserts prevail. Words on Wheels is a bike delivery program that will foster a creative way of reading. The Conscious Connect has partnered with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) at the University of Dayton to build the Words on Wheels bikes. Inspired by Ednita Kelly, a Librarian of the Los Angeles Public Library who delivers books via bike, we are making a commitment to place a minimum of 1,000 books in the hands of children annually.
