Our father, Wietze (also known as Bill) DeVries is a loving and supportive, friend, brother, husband and Dad to many. His contagious smile can be seen across any room he is in.

Wietze, together with his wife Bev, have raised 11 children. In addition to his 11 children he now has 12 (soon to be 13) grandchildren!

Often Dad would come home from a long day at work only to do more work on or in our home in Newtonville. There was rarely an evening where he would not be fixing a car, renovating our house, or helping with us kids.

Mom always said how Dad would spend countless hours of the night rocking and soothing us as babies
and young children. Many nights passed without sleep, many days were spend working hard to provide for a growing family.
On my Mom's birthday (September 21, 2016) , and almost 1 year before he was planning on retiring, Dad was diagnosed with Non-hodgkins Mantle Cell Lymphoma. This rare type of cancer is agressive.
Dad has swollen lymphnodes in neck, tumors in his lungs, groin and a 3" tumor behind his heart. His spleen is enlarged.
Dad quickly lost about 40lbs and is currently in need of blood transfusions to help him thrive as his blood count is dropping. Dad's oncologists say he only has up to a year to live if he starts chemotherapy now.
Over the past few months Dad has been doing a lot of research about health and discovered that he would like to treat his cancer from a nutritional angle rather than traditional chemotherapy.
He bravely embarked on a total overhaul of his diet which included juicing and eating large amount of organic fruits and vegetables. His nutritional treatment is based on the Gerson Therapy.
(Please see links at the bottom for additional information regarding this treatment.)
Many have had outstanding results and have be healed as result of this time honoured therapy.
Not being able to work, Dad has been relying on employment insurance that only provides him and Bev and kids that are still at home about 1/4 of his regular income.
Trying to find organic food at a reasonable price is difficult and Mom and Dad have had to subsidize Dad's food with conventional produce. Even with this produce, they are struggling to keep up with the demands of the intense program. Mom and Dad have been blending and squeezing out their vegetable juices and are in need of a good quality juicer.
In order to help Dad on His journey to health, He plans on going to the Gerson Institute in Mexico where he will undergo nutritional treatment and monitoring by doctors trained to help people who are in his current situtation. The cost of the minimum 2 week stay is $11,000 US. The exchange rate will dramatically increase the amount of money needed.
Your finacial help would be greatly appreciated.

We love our father. We do not want to lose him. Our prayer is that the Creator will extend Dads time here on earth and that we will be able to enjoy his smile for many more years.
Please keep Wietze, Bev and his family in your prayers as we go on this journey together. Knowing that the Creator of us all is in control of each cell and function of our body helps us remember that turning to Him is more important than any treatment.
Thank you for your support.
