Where a Daisy Blooms, There is Hope

To know Daisy is to be loved by her. A friend to all who has consistently given of herself and her resources, she truly embodies what Christ’s love is. If you’re like me, she has showered you with gifts, her time, her jokes, her words of wisdom and her fantastic cooking. As the days and weeks unfold, I’m even more aware of the layers of goodness that is my sister. Stories of how she has touched so many of you and your families and how she and her husband, Rando, have blessed you in tangible and silent ways continue to pour in. From surprise packages delivered to doors during Covid to yearly Thanksgiving breakfast feasts for families at the Ronald McDonald House to Christmas shopping sprees with under-resourced kids, Rando & Daisy have blessed the community abundantly.

Many of you know that Daisy experienced a life-altering stroke two days after Christmas. Nearly twenty years ago, she suffered a previous stroke that was challenging and hard; but through her hard work, perseverance and quiet suffering, she recovered, and it did not stop her. However, this recent stroke has caused significantly more challenges both presently and in the future. Her battle will be long and difficult. Daisy’s daughter, Hannah, has diligently updated us on Daisy’s Caring Bridge site. Click on this link to get more details of her medical condition and progress. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/daisysimeon

Ten weeks in two hospitals and soon a third as she (hopefully and prayerfully) transitions into a rehab hospital have been difficult on the family. Rando and Hannah have tirelessly been by her side throughout these long weeks (many figuratively, as Covid prevented hospital visitors), while Brandon and Matt (Daisy’s boys living in Colorado) have been doing their part and communicating with the hospital staff and Daisy. This unimaginable situation has been so consuming, and while they focus on Daisy’s health, the mounting expenses and forthcoming medical bills are starting to hit home. While insurance will cover many of these expenses, there will still be a significant impact on their resources.

Your thoughts, prayers and support mean the world to us! I know that in their giving and unselfish nature, Rando and family would never ask for help. So I am taking the liberty of asking for them. If this beautiful family has ever blessed you or your family, would you consider helping them out financially as the expenses start piling up? Every dollar will be used wisely and towards recovery for our much-loved Daisy. Please continue to pray for her and keep up with her Caring Bridge site updates.
