Many of you who know Ed & I will remember that approximately 3-years ago we started what we thought was the beginning of our life’s dream come true. What we didn’t know when we started were the many challenges that lay ahead.

Ed and I truly thought our dreams had come true and once we embarked on this beautiful journey, there was no turning back.

Over the last several decades I’ve been rescuing horses. I would either rehab the horses, hoping to find them forever homes, at no personal or financial gain to myself. Or, in the most severe cases, when nothing else could be done for the horse, I would keep them, making them a part of our family until the end of their lives.

It was our hope when we moved to Northern California that I would now be able to take these rescued horses and create an outreach program for rescued and at-risk kids from a facility located not far from our home. This was my dream. Many of these kids come from abusive backgrounds, some have mental or emotional challenges, some have even been rescued from sex trafficking.

If you’ve ever spent time around kids and horses, then I probably don’t need to explain the connection they can have. When it’s a child who has suffered as much as some of these kids have, there’s nothing like a horse -- especially a rescued horse -- to make a spiritual breakthrough.

These horses are like family to us. But sadly, we are left in a financial position where we are struggling to feed & care for them.

Meanwhile, the horses need feed and care, our outreach program for at-risk-kids could very well all come to an end. These kids look forward to spending time with the horses almost as much as the horses look forward to spending time with them. I have been told by the school administrator that she definitely sees an improvement in the kids who are working with the horses.

This is difficult, because I’ve never been the kind of person who looks to others for help. But we need help. I firmly believe in the end we will get through this and be able to continue helping these at-risk kids through our outreach program, volunteering our time, our ranch, and these wonderful horses.

Last year, a mutual friend of ours had a gofundme account setup when his business burned down during the Creek Fire in 2017. He was amazed at the outpouring of kindness, to the point that now his business is back up and running better than before. We figure, nothing ventured, nothing gained. We are doing everything possible to continue our mission and with your help we will succeed!

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this. Sincerely, Ed & Tery
