Whelan Security/Houston Flood

I am Michael King, the local General Manager of Whelan Security, a family-owned, privately- held contract security provider here in Houston, Texas.  My region consists of Houston, Corpus Christi, Victoria, and The Woodlands, Texas.  Hurricane Harvey barreled into the Texas coast dumping unprecedented amounts of rain across Southeast Texas (where our employees reside) in areas in Greater Houston like Houston, Dickinson, Victoria, and causing major property damage due to hurricane force winds in areas like Corpus Christi, Rockport, and Port Aransas.  At Whelan Security, our security officers are family, and they are members of our family who have suffered tremendous loss as a result of this historic storm event.  Some have lost homes, cars, and all personal belongings in one night of torrential rains, flooding, and high winds.   The funds needed range from the hundreds to a few thousand per effected employee, which at present count stands at about 21 employees.

The blessing in all of this is that there has not been any loss of life among them.  Still, the need arises for many of them who have suddenly encountered devastating loss.  All of this can be seemingly insurmountable for a security officer to deal with along with lack of hours due to unforeseen work stoppage.  In addition, many of these hard-working security officers have children who were destined to start school and those children also have essential needs.

We therefore would like to raise money for the recovery and restoration going towards replacement of furniture/appliances, relocation, and replenishment of some essentials like clothing, food, and transportation.  We appreciate anything that all can contribute.  We hope that we can have a major impact on them with assistance.
