Update - July 4, 2025

Kevin has officially begun his rehab at New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Portland, Maine. While there are definitely challenges ahead, he’s approaching each day with determination—and hasn’t lost his sense of humor. In true Kevin fashion, he’s already won over the doctors and nurses.

Hi, I’m Jill Joiner, a neighbor and dear friend of Kevin and Lisa Gardner. We met about a year ago, and I’ve come to feel incredibly fortunate to live next to such kind and genuine people.

If you know Kevin, you know how much he loves to drive...fast! You could often spot him zipping around on his scooter, drone in tow, capturing the beauty of Maine. Most recently, Kevin worked as the Service Manager at Patriot Subaru in Saco, Maine, a job he truly loved and often referred to as his “dream job.”

On Saturday, June 7, Kevin suffered a catastrophic spinal stroke—an extremely rare medical event that has left him paralyzed from the chest down. For someone as independent and active as Kevin, this news has been devastating for him, his family, friends, and coworkers.

While the full scope of what Kevin and Lisa will need in the coming months remains unknown, we do know that the medical bills and rehabilitation costs will be substantial. That’s why we’re asking for your help.

This GoFundMe has been created to support Kevin and Lisa with any additional expenses they may face. Funds will go directly to Lisa Gardner, helping to relieve some of the financial stress so they can focus on Kevin’s care and recovery.

Kevin is currently being treated at Maine Medical Center in Portland. We’ll be sharing updates here to keep everyone informed of his progress and next steps.
