Wheels for Cecelia

All funds will go towards a handicapped modified van.

My mom, Cecelia, has MS.

MS is a devestating disease that affects the brain and central nervous system.

Of the many things multiple sclerosis has already taken from my mom, there are things it hasn't taken... Her spirit. Her smile. Her determination. Her compassion for others.

But there is one challenge that has had a major impact on us as a family... her mobility.

She has spent so much time unable to leave the house simply because she can't get in the car. She has missed important events, missed out on special moments, felt seculded and alone.

But we have come up with a plan. We know how to help ease this burden... how to make her life better! And we are asking you for help.

The Goal? A snazzy vehicle similar to this ride:

This ridiculously expensive (but extremely needed) van will allow her to drive her wheelchair directly into the car.

Currently, to enable my mom to have the freedom that mobility provides - that so many of us take for granted - she and my dad have to struggle.  It is a tiring and painful procedure of him picking up her body to put her into the car.

I think my dad is superman, but the doctor says he won't be able to do this forever.

My parents never ask for help. So we want to do this for them.

We appreciate any help you can provide, donate, share or leave a message of encouragement for my mom and dad.

On behalf of our entire family, and everyone that holds Cecelia so dear, thank you for reading and thank you for helping fundraise for Wheels for Cecelia!

What is MS?
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.

MS is thought to affect more than 2.3 million people worldwide. While the disease is not contagious or directly inherited, epidemiologists — scientists who study patterns of disease — have identified factors in the distribution of MS around the world that may eventually help determine what causes the disease. These factors include gender, genetics, age, geography and ethnic background.

The cause of MS is still unknown – scientists believe the disease is triggered by as-yet-unidentified environmental factor(s) in a person who is genetically predisposed to respond.
