Wheelchair Conversion for Bradley's New Vehicle

Donation protected
The year 2006 was a BIG year. A year many of us will never forget.
As you may recall, some of the most memorable highlights of 2006 include:
- The Arkansas Razorback Football team won 10 games for the 1st time since 1989.
- Pluto was downgraded from a planet to a dwarf planet by the International Astronomical Union.
- The pop icon Ne-Yo, who was born in Arkansas, peaks at #1 in the US Billboard Top 100 Charts with the smash hit “So Sick”.
- The long awaited sequel to Big Momma's House was released in theaters nationwide.
- Jerome "The Bus" Bettis retires after the Steelers win Super Bowl XL (40).

Jerome Bettis was nicknamed "The Bus" for his ability to carry multiple defenders on his back, like a bus ride. Upon the retirement of "The Bus" in 2006, came "The Van" bursting onto the scene shortly after.

Since 2006, Bradley's van, also known as "The Red Dragon" and “Big Red” has taken on a huge workload. His van has carried himself and many others over the years. Similar to "The Bus" retiring after 14 years in the NFL, Bradley's van is now on year 14 and it is time to retire "The Van".

After a long and successful career, here are the accumulated stats of "The Van".

Year: 2006
Make: Dodge
Model: Caravan
Color: Red
Nicknames: "The Red Dragon", "Big Red", "The Van"
Mileage: 232,157 miles
- The ramp quit working 3 years ago and actually broke off. Some home repairs had to be done to get the ramp to stay in the van and for it to stay put properly when driving. Now in order to get the ramp out, you have to manually pull the ramp out the door. To put the ramp up, you have to fold it up and try to slam the van door before the ramp starts trying to fold itself out.
- The automatic doors don’t work anymore.
- The engine has recently had issues and the engine mounts/brackets are starting to rattle and shake when the engine is running.
- None of the interior lights work and the cloth ceiling on the inside of the vehicle is falling.
- The van has been hit by a deer, twice. The damage can be seen on the side of the van.

Bradley and the Hollis family have seen the aging of the van over the past years and more issues continue to arise. Car issues for a handicap vehicle is a huge cause of concern and are much different than regular cars. If Bradley's van has issues, he has no other form of transportation until the vehicle is fixed and out of the shop. Having a more reliable vehicle will better serve Bradley in his everyday life, future jobs, travel, and leisure.

The time has come to where now the best way to prevent future car issues, is by purchasing a more reliable vehicle. Insurance does not cover the cost of a new vehicle so Bradley and the Hollis family have been saving up for quite some time. As of this week, Bradley and his family decided to make the purchase of a used vehicle for him and to officially retire "The Van".

The next step in the process is to get the used vehicle turned into a handicap accessible vehicle. This process is called a "Wheelchair Conversion". This is a VERY big expense that costs over $30,000 dollars. This expense is also something that is not covered by insurance. I have provided the link below to the conversion company the Hollis family plans to use. https://www.atconversions.com
Bradley and the Hollis family plan to send the vehicle off soon to be converted into a handicap accessible vehicle which will in return give them a more reliable vehicle for years to come. Having a more reliable vehicle will better serve Bradley in his everyday life, future jobs, travel, and leisure.

The Hollis family are amazing people. They have NO IDEA about this GoFundMe and they never asked for this help. However, there are many people out there who would love to help support this incredible family and awesome cause.

With that being said, the goal is going to be set at $25,000 to help cover most of the wheelchair conversion process of the newly purchased used vehicle. Any money that exceeds the goal will be donated to I'm With Miller, The Miller McNeil Woodruff Foundation. This foundation was formed by Patrick and Meredith Woodruff after the passing of Miller McNeil Woodruff, who is a relative of the Hollis family. The Foundation's goal is to raise awareness, fund research, and offer support to other families who are faced with the challenge of SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy). Currently SMA is the number one genetic killer of children under the age of two. Incredible support, funding, and research is constantly leading to great medical breakthroughs for this disease.
