UPDATE: Help Pay Wes' Brain Tumor Medical Bills

Donation protected
My name is Susan Carley and I have an inoperable brain tumor. When I received this diagnosis in 2015, it seemed to be the biggest challenge that our family would ever face. However, in early 2023, we received even more inconceivable news: my 23-year-old son Wes Petrimoulx has also been diagnosed with an inoperable grade 2 astrocytoma brain tumor.

Wes grew up in Clarkson, MI, where he met the love of his life, Ally, in high school. They both went to college at Grand Valley State, graduating together in 2021 with degrees in Cyber Security (Wes) and Radiation Therapy (Ally). That same summer, after six years together, Wes and Ally got married and set out to embark on their careers. In 2022, they purchased their first home and moved into it with Luna, the family dog.

In early 2023, our family received the devastating news that Wes has a brain tumor. Over the past year, puzzling symptoms began to appear without any clear explanation. Neither Wes’ doctors nor our family were able to recognize these symptoms as indicators of a possible brain tumor. In recent months, however, Wes began suffering sudden seizures that left him unconscious for extended periods of time and resulted in Ally having to rush him to the Hospital Emergency Room. During one of these trips, an MRI connected all the dots by revealing a brain tumor diagnosis.

Many friends, family and acquaintances have been asking how they can help. The purpose of this GoFundMe is to establish an easy donation space for all the people in Wes and Ally’s lives who wish to support them during this difficult time. Any financial support will go directly to a special account designated to help pay Wes’ healthcare bills.

Wes’ medical insurance has an out-of-pocket maximum of $9,100 each year and it is very likely that his treatment will exceed this amount by spring 2023. Thankfully, Wes is in the good care of the doctors and professionals at the University of Michigan hospital. However, his treatment expenses have already included a brain biopsy surgery, 3 hospital stays, ambulance services, specialized doctor’s appointments and medication to manage symptoms, and many, many tests. In the next few months, Wes will begin with 6 weeks of radiation therapy and then move on to 6 months up to one year of chemotherapy. Any financial support from friends and family will help Wes and Ally to cover their co-insurance payments and access any treatment that is recommended by doctors but not covered by insurance.

If you know Wesley, you know that he is loyal, authentic, and devoted. His smile and laughter brighten any room. Please consider donating to Wes' medical bills during this difficult time. He and Ally are going to need all the support they can get while facing the unimaginable hurdles ahead of them and the last thing that they need to worry about is their financial situation. Let’s put them in a place where they can focus on Wes’ health.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much for your support during this challenging time.
