Hi,
My name is Ross Clarke and together with Phil Durkin, Will Marjoram and Matt Churchill we are fundraising for our friend and colleague Dave Paxton.
On Wednesday 13th August we are going to take on the Welsh 3000s, also known as the Welsh 15 Peaks, which is a hiking challenge in Snowdonia National Park, involving traversing all 15 peaks that are over 3,000 feet (914 meters) in height. It's a continuous, on-foot route that can be completed in a single day by experienced hikers (I am absolutely not an experienced hiker!) though many choose to spread it over multiple days!
Dave who is 38 years old, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Duodenum which has spread to the liver—an incredibly rare and aggressive cancer. There have only been 22 recorded cases worldwide, which means treatment options are extremely limited.
Our target for this challenge is to raise £1000 towards Dave’s immunotherapy treatment which is a drug called pembrolizumad, which has been proven to work on this cancer in other locations, and in some circumstances full results, but tragically, Dave’s insurance will not cover the cost of the drugs because it has not been proven in this extremely rare location - the cost and overall target of Dave’s main GoFundMe page is £184,128 where more than £58,000 has already been raised!
Our page will link directly with the main GoFundMe so 100% of funds raised on here will transfer straight over to fill the overall pot.
Dave is a devoted father to his 9-year-old son, and all he wants is the chance to watch his boy grow up—to be there for birthdays, football matches, school plays, and all the moments that matter.
Please donate what you can—no amount is too small.
Please also share this page with your friends, family, work, and on social media.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us.
