Help the Webb Family live with Liver failure
Donation protected
I'm Alicia Webb and my family has had a rough year. In January, my husband was laid off while working from home with our then 4 month old son. Not long after getting a job as an independent contractor, he was diagnosed with a condition that will most likely require him to have a liver transplant. Because of this change in our lives and other unexpected events, we need help with monthly premiums and our day-to-day needs.

It started in January 2023 when my husband, Alan Webb lost his job as part of game developer layoffs. He was just short of 15 years and lost any related benefits. We also had a son, Atlas, in August 2022 and he lost his unused parental leave. Alan found work in May 2023 at an independent game company as a Principal Product Manager and QA consultant through his newly established LLC.

I left my QA position at the same original game company in August to work in my preferred field of early education, where my son attends school with me. Things quickly got complicated. Alan finally saw a doctor after feeling unwell for almost a month. I get a call while working one afternoon that his doctor advised him to go to the ER immediately for low hemoglobin levels. He ended up being admitted and stayed for around a week. Our son Atlas wasn't allowed to visit, but he video chatted his dad often.

Atlas and I were also fighting ongoing sicknesses. Upper respiratory infection, hand foot and mouth, a serious stomach bug, chronic back issues.... Everything was hitting us at once. On 10/13 I totalled my car and broke my hand in the process. Thankfully my cast of three weeks came off and we've acquired a used car. I have physical therapy and need to wear special finger wraps 24hrs/day for 4 more weeks while my fracture fully heals. This has caused extra stress at home and continues to interfere with my work.

At this point Alan has been getting regular blood work and testing done and had to be admitted once more in early September for more blood transfusions. The one thing we know is that his liver is failing. Recently he has been evaluated by a Hepatologist for treatment and preparing for the high possibility of a liver transplant.

Nothing is set in stone.... But regardless of what happens, we're both working hard to be great parents and keep our health insurance and a roof over our heads. I pay most utilities and childcare and Alan pays our mortgage, car insurance and health insurance. We're living off our savings since Alan can only work part time since hospitalization due to his health. Any support will go to our health insurance premiums through my COBRA coverage and other monthly expenses, as well as saving for his post transplant recovery when Alan will not be able to work for at least a month after.

Donating to this fund would help keep our family stable through all of these changes. It will help my son continue going to preschool, keep my entire family's health insurance, and help make sure we can stay in our home (in one of Maryland's most expensive counties to live). Please help my family live as stress free as possible during this time. ❤️
