Services for Refugees- 15th District
Donation protected
In Chicago, refugees are arriving on buses from Border states, and they are temporarily being sent to live in public facilities like police stations and park district buildings. These facilities are not meant to be used as shelters, and are inadequately set up to help these families-- they do not have beds, kitchens of any kind, showers, storage, security or medical resources.
Local Chicago organizers have created an emergency network, the Police Station Response Team to support these families' daily needs for food, medicine, and hygiene care. Please donate today to contribute help meet these very urgent need. This money will be directly and immediately used to pay for meals, medical supplies, and other necessities for these families in the 15th District Station (Austin), and will be given to other local organizers where money is needed.
One prominent need we have discovered is working mobile phones. If a family has a phone, they can meet their INS requirements and find legal help, contact family or friends already in the US, and even find gig employment. Trust us, these aren't the latest iPhones!
Please consider contributing to meet this need, which is making it easier for these newest Chicago residents to support themselves and their families. Please feel free to reach out with questions, and thank you!
