Support Ben & Liv Butera during Tilly’s recovery

Ben and Olivia welcomed Matilda Anne to the world on December 26, 2023. Little “Tilly” came out with a head full of curls, looking exactly like her big sister. It was confirmed that evening that Matilda does in fact have Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia. This is a rare but treatable heart defect that would have developed within the first weeks of gestation. TOF with Pulmonary Atresia accounts for only 2% of all Congenital Heart Diseases. Tilly is awaiting surgery to repair her precious heart. Olivia and Ben have been commuting back and forth to Ochsner Baptist in New Orleans where Tilly is receiving NICU care. The family is looking at an extended stay at the NICU and PICU in New Orleans. I am hoping this fundraiser will help ease the burden of the next few months for their family. They will need help covering the substantial out-of-pocket medical costs, normal living expenses, meals while living out of the NICU for the foreseeable future, and special care for Tilly when she is able to come home. If you were to ask Ben and Liv what they need right now, they would most likely tell you “prayers,” but they will undoubtedly need this financial support too. They have already faced their fair share of medical hardships, as Ben was diagnosed with Addison’s Disease in 2017. I have been friends with Olivia and Ben since our days at Spring Hill College. Liv is my Delta Gamma “little” and best friend. Both Ben and Liv stood in our wedding, with Liv serving as my Matron of Honor, and they are godparents to our little girl.

Ben and Liv are school teachers and active volunteers in their church and the Slidell community. Ben serves as an officer in the 4th degree council for St. Luke’s Knights of Columbus, is an usher at mass, and they are both lectors at St. Luke’s. Liv serves on the board for Olde Towne Slidell Main Street and is a member of the Slidell Habitat for Humanity Rosies. Thank you for supporting this family, and please keep them in your prayers.
