Hello, my name is MezNari Montrell Moore. In 2017, I received what I thought would be my most life-changing news; acceptance as a future scholar at all of Florida's top-tier research institutions, with my ultimate final selection being Florida State University. As a high-school senior, this was the best educational news ever, or so I thought.
In the fall of 2017, I received news that my father, best friend, supportive confidant, and dutiful dad, was diagnosed with stage four (terminal) cancer. This world-shattering news was new for my entire family and me. My forever father, a heroic and hilarious husband (a Moore Man), was diagnosed with a debilitating and deadly disease. A disease that enters our lives with only one purpose and goal; to create hellacious havoc on our entire body while destroying any and every organ(s) and cell(s) with which it comes into contact. I quickly realized that my amazing academic acceptance news was merely a numerical start (2017) of the worst news ever in 2017.
My father has been battling Stage 4 (terminal) cancer since September 2017; this deadly disease has recently metastasized into my father's back, bones, and liver. My father has positively and patiently placed himself, his body, and his family through 14 different trials and medical procedures, not to mention various forms of chemotherapy, radiation, and nuclear poisons such as uranium (223). These are just a few of the many efforts attempted, not to mention ongoing natural/holistic healing efforts.
My father is a very "proud" man, always doing whatever it takes to take care of his family, a man that always gives his last to others; why, merely because he can. A proud, honest, dedicated, and loyal "blue collar" worker, never forgetting where he came from; always looking back to move forward positively. One of the many reasons he remains my hero!
One of my father's dreams was that through his 40plus years of service work (30 years as a sanitation engineer or, as my father would say, "a garbage man"), he would be able to provide his two sons with the opportunity to graduate from an institution of higher education of their choosing. Therefore, allowing his sons to be able to bless others in their future, thus, this personal GoFundMe request from my brother and I.
The ability to adapt and overcome was far more than I would have ever expected; my resilience was no longer part of my reality; it was my only reality. This new reality has caused my family and me a great deal of pain; however, we continue to pull the positive from the pain as a family.
For those individuals and families that are experiencing similar family challenges, please continue to FIGHT!
F = Forget
I = Ignorance
G = Guilt &
H = Hate
T = Trust Truth
We often meet individuals that we forget. You may often meet individuals who forget us. However, there are those cherished times you meet rare individuals you can't forget. Those individuals are our unforgettable friends who have become a part of your family. Thank you to those who have entered my life as strangers, remain friends, and continue as extended family members.
Please make any donation that you feel is possible; if you absolutely can not donate any monetary resources at this time, I understand; remember, prayers are free and always greatly appreciated. My parents have always taught my brother and me that purposeful prayer is powerful. My late grandmother and great-grandmother always reminded my brother and me "believe in ourselves; and our God-given potential, never forgetting from whence we came; because this will determine where we will go."
Please make any monetary donation possible, knowing it takes a unique universe of people to create a cancer-free and better world. Your supportive funds will help my father with his constant cancer medical needs. Your support will also help my brother and me continue our academic aspirations, which was and remains my father's dream. However, our dream is a miracle cure for our father; as we begin to do what he has done for us for decades, whatever it takes to ensure he has continued medical coverage; while making his dream of our academic success possible, thus, becoming and remaining living learning leaders.
My brother and I will continue to do what our parents have engraved in our heart and spirit; placing family first. We will continue to learn as we work hard to help our family and others. At this time, we could use (just a little help) from others to ensure our fathers wishes are being met.
My brother and I appreciate your positive, thoughts, prayers, and generosity as we, too, continue to pay it forward forever.
Again, thank you in advance for your selfless support
We all deserve Moore!!!
Sincerely and respectfully,
