Update: The Washingtons lost their precious patriarch, James "Tommy" Washington on the evening of February 28th, following his long, brave battle with pancreatic cancer. This loss obviously only compounds their needs following the fire. They continue to appreciate any help you can provide.
-------------------
On Friday, January 30th at around 7pm, NES turned the power back on to the James, JoAnn, and Rickey Washington house in North Nashville after a historic ice storm.
The 1973 house immediately went up in flames due to a connection error that ran from the street to the house. Three other homes in his neighborhood also caught fire at that moment.
Many of you know Rickey from the "Rock Block" in Nashville. He and his parents are incredible community members who will quite literally give the shirts off their backs for anyone in need.
They will be living in a hotel for the foreseeable future. Their insurance company will access the home next week, but in the meantime, they're doing all they can to afford the days they've already stayed in the hotel during the massive ice storm.
This is what they need help with at this time:
1.) Hotel costs
2.) Replacement costs for all of Rickey's uniforms (he works 3 jobs)
3.) Replacement cost for Rickey's clothes and shoes (his clothes are a total loss, but it looks like his parents' clothes might be salvageable... I'll update this list as we get more info.)
If you know the Washingtons, you know the very hardest thing for them is to ask for help. This might be a long journey while NES, the city, FEMA and their insurance company battle it out for who is footing the bill for this tragedy.
Our brother needs us right now. Even the smallest donation will be a blessing. Thank you for your consideration.
