Walk4SLIC-fundraiser for SouthLakes Islamic Centre
As-salaamu alaykum,
With Khair will be completing a 20km walk for the first Masjid in the South Lake District.
We are 13 Muslim women, brought together by fate at a SLIC charity dinner. From one pledge and a shared passion to help others, we formed the fundraising group, With Khair. This will be our first fundraiser and we pray that this is one of many projects With Khair will support in the future.
At present, a growing Muslim community in the South Lakes are lacking the most basic provisions we take for granted. The lack of a Masjid means the community pray their congregational salaah in borrowed spaces. They have no place to nurture their children’s identity through a Madrassah, nor do they have ghusl, shrouding or janazah facilities, the closest being 50 miles away in Lancaster.

The route:
We will walk 20km through the Lake District, beginning at the Northern tip of Coniston Lake and ending in Bowness-on-Windermere. The route will take us through varied terrain, which will challenge the team who have put in hours of training to tackle the high hills!
We have an opportunity to make a change and a chance to support this amazing initiative.

We hope with your support and prayers we will be successful in our objective. Each act of worship will be a means of Sadaqah-e-Jaariyah, a perpetual reward for us all, Insha’Allah.
