Wounded Knee Survivor Run 2018

On December 29, 1890 over 250 Lakota Mnicoujou were slaughtered by the US Army. These people slaughtered were our relatives. But the massacre did not end at Wounded Knee. The survivors, women, children, elderly, ran for two days and nights back to what is now Takini, SD. These were our ancestors who survived the long run on foot in the dead of winter with no food or shelter. We honor them every year on the anniversary of the Wounded Knee Massacre with this run to thank them for their sacrifice, for without their courage, we would not be here today.

In conjunction with my Brings Plenty family and especially my brother Joseph Brings Plenty we collect to funds to help with the expenses of feeding and sheltering the runners on the long journey from Wounded Knee to Takini.
