Tragedy in the Vogel Family
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Connie and I'm writing this on the behalf of my friend and colleague, Kirstin. If any of you know Kirstin personally, you know that she is one of the bubbliest, happiest, most kind-hearted people you'll ever meet. You also might know that Kirstin just recently had a serious skiing accident in which she had a cervical fracture and thoracic break on her spine. She had to undergo neurosurgery to fuse the cervical fracture and shattered disc, a procedure that will take 6 months to a year until she is fully healed. Her accident may still leave Kirstin with limited mobility in her neck.
A few months before Kirstin’s injury her mom, Whitney was hospitalized with a rare intestinal disease and still battles this illness. And now just about a month past her surgery, another tragedy has struck the Vogel family. Kirstin's little brother Connor had an accident which resulted in a coma that he never woke up from. Connor being the loving and giving person that he was donated his organs to those in need. Connor was only 22, a student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington studying software programming and coding. He was a kind soul that hated inconveniencing people and had a contagious smile and personality. Due to their closeness in age and personalities, Kirstin and Connor were extremely close.
Needless to say, the Vogel family is devastated and in shock from the tragedy. Before his unfortunate passing, Connor and Kirstin had discussed going on a backpacking trip across Europe together. With how chaotic things have been for her in the past few months, myself and Kirstin’s loved ones would love to make this happen for her. It’s the least we can do for our beloved Cheerstin.
This GoFundMe was set up to help send Kirstin on the European backpacking adventure in honour of her brother and help her get the closure she needs. Funds will primarily help support the financial burden of Connor’s loss, current medical turmoil on the Vogel family, and funeral costs, etc. Kirstin has helped so many people with her smile, unending positivity, and loyal friendship. We’d like to return the favour and help her in this time of need.
Thank you for reading. Every little bit helps.
