Vicki Lapp No More Cancer!
Donation protected
We are raising money for our beloved friend Vicki, who has been addressing breast cancer for the last 7 years. Vicki is such a bright light to us and the community in the Bay Area. ~ She’s always looking to bring people together and create joy, she’s a whirlwind who sparks gatherings, creates support groups (where I met her), and organizes community dances. She is also an amazingly positive person, even in the face of recurring cancer; an intrepid adventuress with endless energy; a camping, cycling and fitness buff and also a sincere spiritual seeker.
Since January, the disease has made an alarming progression. It has spread, with painful swelling in the left arm and her left side, as well as lymphedema. Vicki has HER2+/ER- breast cancer, which is one of the aggressive varieties with high recurrences. She’s been referred to a specialized clinic in Mexico where they have treatments that we hope can help her (She's already had 2 operations and 3 rounds of targeted chemo, and now the condition is not currently operable because of "extensive skin involvement" ).
These treatments (not yet covered by insurance in the US) include such things as cancer vaccines, immunotherapy, and low dose chemo (insulin potentiated therapy). They are designed to both kill the cancer and bolster her immune system.
We love Vicki and really want to keep her around. She always looks for the best in others, and finds it! Can you please give to support her? The course of treatment is 6 weeks at the clinic and another 8 weeks of home treatment, and the cost all told (with travel, recovery and supportive care ) is about $60,000. We would love to raise even half of that.
Thank you so much for your support.
In Vicki's own words: "I have never looked at the cancer journey as a battle. It has been an opportunity for me to grow as a person and grow spiritually, to learn to be the best person I can be. This recent progression has demanded that I face numerous fears.
I believe that people can heal. I believe that I can heal. I pray to be an example of that."
Please share this widely, and ask others to share it too!
