Vet bills from trying to save our dog Delilah
Donation protected
Update:
This isn’t the update I was hoping for but we had to put our dog Delilah down on Wednesday June 4th. She was getting much worse and still had no answers. We couldn’t raise money in time to get her the mri. Her back end was giving out much more often, her whole body would shake and she was in a lot of pain. She wasn’t herself and you could tell she was miserable. My husband and I couldn’t take her being like this anymore. She wasn’t herself suffering everyday. Thank you to everyone who did donate to try to get her an MRI, we appreciate it more than you know! Now we have $3,100 in vet bills from trying to figure out what was going on with her, then having to pay to put her down and be able to get her ashes back and her paw print. If you can help donate to help us pay that back, we would be forever thankful! ❤️ We miss her so much and I’ve been a complete mess.
My name is Katelyn. I have a husband named Ryan and daughter named Kenzie who is 7. We had 2 dogs that we loved dearly that had to be put down within 2 days from each other over 4 years ago. My husband ended up surprised my daughter and I with our girl Delilah almost 3 years ago now! She has been so amazing to have as a dog and we love her so much. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been doing well. She is only 2, going to be 3 in June. We first noticed her dragging her back right leg and it had been going on for a couple weeks and wasn’t getting any better. We decided to bring her to her vet. She suggested we bring her to a Neurologist in Scarborough, so we waited about a week just to see if things would take a turn for the better for her, but sadly, it was getting worse. After a night of patching her paw up because she was bleeding from all the dragging, we both took the next day off and drove her down an hour away from us to get seen. The neurologist took blood work, and x-rays. Long story short, x-rays looked great and the only thing that came back in blood work was Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever which is from a tick bite. She has been put on 2 different antibiotics that didn’t help, she only got worse and now we are trying a steroid which isn’t helping. Her whole back end gives out, she’s having accidents in the house, she sleeps with us and is now starting to have accidents in the morning before even getting off our bed to be let out. :( She also looks like she is losing weight but is eating… so I’m thinking maybe she is losing muscle from not being able to use her leg. The neurologist isn't sure what is going on and she said there is really no way of knowing what’s going on unless we do an MRI which would cost around $4000. We already just about maxed out our Care card that we got approved for for $3400 and just for going down to see the neurologist once, we spent $2740!! I’ve been told by many people to make a GFM but I didn't want to get my hopes up and be let down. We are at a complete stand still it feels like and not sure where to go from here. We have no money to continue trying to figure out what is going on with our girl. We are praying we can get some help and figure this out. She still has so much life in her. She’s such a good girl and we love her so so much! Anything helps and we appreciate any help anyone is willing to give to help get our girl back to normal and living her best doggie life!
