Hi my name is Veronica Gutierrez. I'm 44 years old. In January of 2020, I was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease. It has been a very difficult and challenging 2 years, not including the pandemic, but that too. I've been in and out of the hospital many times in the last 2 years due to blood infections. I've had at least 15 surgeries during that time. In the last 6 months, I've spent 16 weeks in the hospital on a very strong antibiotics regiment. I was finally able to go home and continued antibiotics for 4 more weeks. My transplant was put on hold until recently. I have a living donor but I couldn't preceed with the transplant until my blood infections cleared. Now my obstacle is to raise the money needed for the surgery.
