All of the collected money will be spent on Verenas stemcell treatment at the National Pirogov Medical Surgical Center in Moscow.
This treatment has a documented success rate of 90-95%. Norway does not cover this treatment. Only a few patient are selected.
Our generous, good sister Verena has always been the center of family and friends. Until a few years ago, she worked 100% as an therapist for youths. She was a person both colleagues and youth appreciated highly.
She is now not able to work, and has more than enough to master her everyday life. Her dream is to become a support for those around her and again be a resource in the society.
Verena was diagnosed with MS in 2009 after a long, heavy time with various neurological tests, spinal test and finally MRI. During the same period, Verena also lost her mother and also had this sorrow to handle.
Verena told no one about the diagnosis for the first 2 years. She thought that all of us siblings and our father had more than enough to do with their mother's death. She continued in the job, but now in 50%.
There was a few years with a lot of medication, syringes for 5 years, tablets with constant change due to major side effects and attacks that reduced the quality of life.
Almost 3 years ago, she suffered a severe attack that prevented her from returning to work. A job she loved and had for 20 years.
Her ability to speak disappeared, she was mostly quiet and completely dependent on the help of others, to do daily tasks and manage the economy. During this period, Verena lost control of the economy. A few years back she would have been able to borrow the money, but the situation today is impossible.
The money goes into a separate account, and will be used exclusively for the payment of the treatment.
