Hi, my name is Megan. I am a single mom fundraising for me and my children. Today, November 28th, 2022 at 7:35am I was driving my children to school and ran into some flooding on our every day route on Chase street in north Toledo. I initially thought it was due to heavy rain the day before or sewer backup. Chase Street was still drivable, no signs or blockades anywhere, so I slowly traversed down to the intersection at Galena and Chase. The water was rushing on Galena but I had witnessed an SUV drive through the intersection going down Galena to Summit street with no issue. I proceeded to turn left onto Galena to head toward Summit and my front and rear passenger side tires slid into an unseen sink hole... I acted quickly and got myself and children out of the car and started wading down the sidewalk where we were picked up by a very nice city worker who drove us to safety. I had to leave behind all of my pet grooming equipment and my children's backpacks along with other personal items. My Nissan Rouge sank deeper and deeper until the whole passenger side was submerged in water.... it is totalled and none of my equipment is salvageable... as Christmas is getting closer and closer and I have to undergo a major surgery December 7th, I am at a complete loss with no income coming in.
