Vanpoucke family affected by Lahaina wildfires
Donation protected
Aloha! My sister, Julia Vanpoucke and her family have been displaced from their home in Lahaina after the wild fires on August 8th. They have 2 daughters who were about to start 5th and 11th grade in Lahaina. I've had limited communication with her due to cell towers not fully functioning on the Westside of Maui, but I do know they're safe. However, power is still out and no one knows when it will be restored. They've most likely lost all that they had.
Their neighborhood has been completely destroyed and we don't know the extent of damage to their home as of yet but I'll be sure to update here as I can.
My brother in law Jeremy's workplace has been destroyed along with the rest of front street so I fear he's now unemployed and was the main source of income for their family.
I currently live on Maui too but have been unaffected by the fires in my area. I've adjusted the goal amount now that we know their home is completely wiped out and all is lost. They were only able to grab a few clothing items and not much else before leaving their home. Every dollar donated will be given directly to them to not only help with food, clothing and necessities for them and their girls but money to help them find a new home, furnish it and just rebuild all that was lost. Any funds that may exceed what is needed will be put towards helping the community and other families in need. Hundreds of residents are without their homes, their belongings, food, jobs, etc.
Thank you so much for taking time to consider! Any amount is helpful and even if you don't have financial means to donate, you're prayers are most welcome! Big Mahalos! Thank you so much!
