In 2013 I began having unbearable pain in my right leg to the point where I couldn't walk. I went to the ER where they discovered I had blood clots in my right leg. After the surgery to remove the clot the doctors told me I had a vascular disease which caused my blood to cloud easily. I was hospitalized for about 3 weeks while they try to relieve the pain I eventually went home while still under the care of the doctor. After about a year or so it seems to be getting better so they began me on an aspirin regimen and took me off the blood thinners. In March of 2018 I started feeling light pain in my right leg again I returned to the same vascular surgeon and he told me it was the same problem as before but it had gotten worse and I will need surgery to remove the blood clot from my leg again.
A few days after the surgery I was sent home but it never seem like it was healing. After a few days I returned to do surgeon to tell him the pain has escalated he told me it was just the healing process and not to worry about it, even though at this point my leg was oozing pink fluid. I went home only to come back 2 days later to complain of the same issue he continued to tell me it was the healing process and everything would be fine. My leg was hurting so bad I wanted a second opinion. I went to the ER where I was told a incision from the surgery had an infection.the hospital contacted the vascular surgeon and informed him that I was there and the wound was infected, he came to the hospital and confirmed it was infected. I asked him how could there be such a serious infection when I just saw him 2 days ago and he said everything was fine and it was just the healing process. His reply was he was not sure what happened. He said it will be a quick and easy surgery to get rid of the infection. I woke up the day after the surgery to see both of my legs and my left arm bandaged I asked what had happen and he told me they found another blood clot In my left arm and had to transfer a vein from my left leg to my left arm. There was also a big huge wound in my right leg half the size of my thigh. I asked him why so much of my leg was removed when you said it would be a quick and easy clean up. His reply was he had to because the bacteria had spread. Everything just continued to go downhill from there I was transferred to another hospital and eventually transferred to a 3rd hospital where I've been since September.
When I arrived at the 3rd hospital they told me my right leg had gotten extremely worse and it was cutting off the blood supply to my foot. About 3 to 4 weeks of attempted treatment, my right foot had turned completely black and they determined that an amputation would need to be done in order to prevent another infection from spreading further up the leg. My right foot was amputated at the ankle. A few days after the the surgery they realize there was not enough blood flow going up the leg to heal the big gash on my thigh from the original surgery and they determined another amputation would be needed this time from above the knee. That surgery took place on November 2nd 2018 and we are hopeful that there will be no more surgeries, but only time will tell.
Please contribute any amount to our dear friend and sister, Vanna! Any amount is greatly appreciated. She is thankful for the calls, visits, and text messages of support. Please keep her lifted in prayer.
