YYGS Applied Science and Engineering
I am a junior at Monsignor Edward Pace High School and I have recently been accepted by the Yale Young Global Scholars Program to attend a summer program for outstanding high school students. I have maintained a grade point average of 5.4 and am part of the top 1% in my grade. I have been highly involved with my school in being a part of Student Government, Future Business Leaders of America, varsity volleyball, and various honor societies. I dedicate a lot of my time to community service in being a part of Youth Council of the youth center for the town of Miami Lakes, collecting supplies for the homeless and needy in South Florida, and going to the Dominican Republic to care for orphans and build homes for the poor.
I am excited to have been admitted to the Applied Science and Engineering session of the Yale Young Global Scholars Program during the summer of 2018 because I am passionate about engineering and the possibilities of finding global environmental solutions through applied science and STEM. 250 students are chosen from over 130 countries and the 50 U.S. states and I feel extremely blessed to have been accepted. I am confident that this program will help me explore the principles and innovations of STEM. My interests lie in finding more sustainable methods and innovations of creating more efficient energy that is both accessible to many and will not widen our ecological footprint on the earth. Students from all over the world attend this highly competitive program. I know that I would gain a great deal from both my studies and interactions with my peers. I am so grateful for the opportunity to participate in this life changing experience.
My challenge is that I need to raise $6000 to help with program costs, and $500 for transportation and expenses in order to attend the program. I have earned $4500 from the program financial aid and scholarship.
I am reaching out to you to ask for help. I need to raise an additional $2000 by April 11. I am hoping that you will consider helping me with a donation.
I have enclosed information about the Yale Young Global Scholars Program and the Applied Science and Engineering session I am hoping to attend. I greatly appreciate any donations made and am thankful for your time and interest in helping me reach my goal. I aspire to further my education in engineering to create more sustainable energy through environmental science as well get my degree from a top tier school that will ensure I can continue this research to the best of my ability. The Yale Young Global Scholars Program will help towards these aspirations to better myself as an engineer and better our earth as people. When I return from Yale, I plan to communicate with all of my supporters to share my experiences with them. Please Donate!
