My nephew George Van Antwerp "Van" Shannon Jr's family home was damaged in the recent floods affecting the Baton Rouge area.
I am Van's uncle Kevin Shannon and live in Northern California. My thought is that with the large network of extended family and friends we can make a small difference in his family's life.
This page is to give you the opportunity to support Van, his wife Caitlan, and their three young children Dylan, Ava and Grace.
As you can imagine, the water got in the house and into the drywall and ruined much of the contents, doors, appliances, kitchen cabinets and much of the furniture etc. They were fortunate enough to save much of their clothing and have some donated by friends. They like many others effected were not in a flood zone and did not have flood coverage.
The family is currently living temporarily with their Great Grandmother and their Mother is living in a camper on the property (as her home was also damaged).
Van is working as an apprenticeship to be an Electrician and Katie was working at a Day Care which is now closed due to damage. She just got a new job at another Day Care and will be starting there.
Although the flood happened about a month ago, they have a long road ahead. The damaged areas of the house and contents have been removed but they are still waiting for the moisture levels to subside before they can begin repairs.
On behalf of Van's family, thank you for your consideration.
Kevin
