Theft Recovery - Cameras & Skates

Many of you may know that our car was broken into on a recent trip to film and take photos at some roller derby games in St. Louis. It felt like a kick to the gut when we returned to the car after lunch on Sunday (in the middle of the day!!!) to find the window smashed out and all of our camera gear and Stacy's skates & referee equipment had been stolen.

We had just enjoyed a fantastic weekend of roller derby and I was so excited to get home and share the images I'd captured with everyone...and now they are all gone.

Those who know us know that it takes an awful lot for us to ask for support like this. Insurance is covering enough of what was stolen to get a start, but it still falls well short of the amount actually needed to get back everything that was taken. Quite simply, the majority of the camera gear was new within the last few years and Stacy's skates were rare and no longer in production. Good camera gear holds its value, and the depreciation calculations by insurance are simply wrong when it comes to replacing this equipment. The skates are actually worth more now than when they were new!

Anyone who has been around a photoshoot with me knows that it is something I'm absolutely passionate about. I laugh with delight every time I capture the image I'm shooting for. This is what I love doing...

We've been through hundreds of "shoulda, coulda...done this or that", and really it just comes down to the fact that it seems no matter how careful you might think you are, there's always someone out there ready to take what you've worked so hard for.

So we're just simply going to ask for a little help getting back everything that was stolen. Being a photographer, I've come up with a few things that I can offer as a thank you for donations. Downloads, prints, etc. If you're looking for a photoshoot, obviously there are going to be some location restrictions...pretty much within Indiana, and will require scheduling. There's a link to my website below and you're welcome to contact me about setting something up.

So with that, God bless and keep you safe. I truly wish no one would ever have to go through this type of experience again.
