Valor Without Borders: A Mission of Service, Snow, & Solidarity
This isn’t just a project. It’s a mission.
A mission led by Veterans, for Veterans, and for the communities that stand beside us. The communities such as the Fundación Desafío Bariloche.
Valor Without Borders was born when Breezy Grenier, a Coast Guard Veteran and snowboarding instructor of 20 years—specializing in adaptive snowboarding and working with Veterans with TBI and PTSD—was invited to Argentina by Retired Captain Karen Atkinson, U.S. Army, a Move United Warfighter Ambassador.
What started with a simple question—"Hey, do you want to go snowboarding?"—quickly grew into something much more meaningful.
We first crossed paths at Move United's Ski Spectacular in Colorado, where we saw firsthand the powerful impact of what we call "camouflage therapy"—adventure-based healing that blends physical movement with mental resilience. The concept isn’t new. Since the earliest days of humanity, we have used sport and movement to train, hunt, and survive. Not much has changed. Today, we continue to use it—to train, to move, to heal, and to survive.
For Veterans especially, winter can be the hardest season—shorter days, colder nights, isolation. But for many of us, winter is also the most powerful season of renewal. It’s when we move, glide, and carve through our struggles. It's when we feel most alive.
What many people don’t realize is that adaptive sports equipment is medical equipment. The VA [hospitals] knows this. The insurance companies like The Hartford know this. It’s life-saving. When someone with a disability or injury can conquer a mountain, they’re not just regaining strength—they’re reclaiming identity, dignity, and hope.
What looks like recreation is, for many of us, medicine.
After years of service and sacrifice, snow-covered mountains become spaces of peace, strength, and self-discovery.
From One Question to a Global Mission
What began as a simple invitation has grown into a global effort to empower Veterans—healing through purpose, adventure, and service.
Valor Without Borders unites adaptive sports, cross-cultural connection, and community impact—bringing hope and opportunity to Veterans and underserved communities around the world.
Veterans Reaching Across Borders
But this effort is about far more than sit-skis and snowboards.
This is about Veterans helping Veterans, and standing with the communities that support us.
Through our network, we connected with Veterans in Argentina, knowing that in their country, military service remains a deeply sensitive topic. Many of their stories are untold. Many feel unseen. Forgotten.
Just as we’ve experienced in the U.S., when trauma is left unspoken, it grows.
We are here to say: You are not alone. You are not forgotten.
This mission gives voice, visibility, and validation to Argentina’s Veterans—and shares what U.S. Veterans have known for years:
Sport heals
Movement is medicine
Connection saves lives
A Mission in Motion: Supporting Desafío Bariloche
When we connected with Desafío Bariloche—one of Argentina’s only adaptive snowsports programs—we didn’t just ask what they needed. We asked what they wanted.
Their answer was humble: replacement parts, safety gear, for basic maintenance for aging equipment— secondhand, donated, and in constant need of repair. They’ve always made do with what little they had because they had no other choice. There is no domestic supplier.
And international shipping of used adaptive equipment?
It’s a logistical nightmare—plagued by customs delays, high costs, and frequent failures. More often than not, the only way gear makes it down is as extra luggage in someone’s checked baggage when they travel.
So, we asked the real question:
"If money was not a barrier, what would you need? What do you truly want?"
That’s when our mission truly began.
Through Valor Without Borders, we are:
Purchasing brand-new, high-quality adaptive snowsports equipment straight from the manufacturer
Establishing a direct account for Desafío Bariloche with Enabling Technologies to streamline shipping, reduce currency exchange costs, and avoid customs complications.
Facilitating introductions and helping build connections between Argentina’s Veterans Division of International Affairs and Desafío Bariloche.
Creating a sustainable support system to ensure long-term success for Desafío and the athletes they serve
How You Can Help
Your donation goes directly to an account created specifically for Desafío Bariloche with Enabling Technologies—bypassing currency exchanges, administrative fees, and third-party charges.
This doesn’t just fund equipment— It transforms lives.
It creates access. It builds international bridges. And it sends a powerful message:
Every Veteran, no matter where they served, matters.
