A dream, a (good) cause and a destination

Cycling 30,000 km from Alaska to Argentina. Two years on a bike and no less than 17 countries!

It’s brave to dream, but it is even braver to make these dreams come true.

My dream is to go on an adventure, and at the same time to inspire and motivate.

Along the way, I also want to make dreams come true! How?

During my trip, I will raise money for VIA Don Bosco, a recognized Belgian NGO whose main goal is to make quality education accessible to Belgian youth and youth from other countries. Sustainability, world citizenship and gender equality are the main pillars. With my background as a teacher, this naturally appeals to me.

What I personally like about VIA Don Bosco is that they support and advise, and yet place the responsibility with their local partners. Strengthening their capacities is not only good for the young people, but for the entire community.

Along the way, I will visit a number of VIA Don Bosco schools in Latin America and be able to see the results of the impact of your donations in person, something I’m already looking forward to!

Even the smallest efforts can make a big change.

Een droom, een (goed) doel en een bestemming

30.000 km fietsen van Alaska naar Argentinië. Twee jaar op de fiets en maar liefst door 17 landen!

Het is moedig om te dromen, maar het is nog moediger om deze dromen te laten uitkomen.

Mijn droom is om het avontuur aan te gaan, en tegelijkertijd hiermee anderen te inspireren en te motiveren.

Onderweg wil ik ook dromen laten uitkomen! Hoe dan?

Tijdens mijn tocht zal ik geld inzamelen voor VIA Don Bosco, een erkende Belgische ngo die als hoofddoel heeft om in België en in hun partnerlanden kwalitatief onderwijs toegankelijk te maken voor alle jongeren. Duurzaamheid, wereldburgerschapseducatie en gendergelijkheid zijn daar de belangrijkste pijlers in. Met mijn achtergrond als leerkracht spreekt me dit natuurlijk hard aan.

Wat ik zelf zo mooi vind aan VIA Don Bosco is dat ze ondersteunen en adviseren, en toch de verantwoordelijkheid leggen bij hun lokale partners. Het versterken van hun capacitieten is niet alleen goed voor de jongeren, maar voor heel de gemeenschap ter plaatse.

Onderweg zal ik in Latijns-Amerika een aantal partnerscholen van VIA Don Bosco bezoeken en zelf het resultaat kunnen zien van de impact van jullie schenkingen, iets waar ik nu al naar uitkijk!

Zelfs de kleinste inspanningen hier maken een groot verschil daar ter plekke.

Laat ons samen de kracht van het geven ervaren, want van geven werd nog nooit iemand armer.
