Hello, my name is Victoria and I am a Junior at William Fleming High School located in Roanoke, Virginia. I have been selected to represent my school and the Commonwealth of Virginia as a delegate the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders. The program focuses on students who aspire to excel in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) Careers and is an honorary opportunity for me to enhance my academic and social experience. The Congress is an academic honors program that offers a 3-day mentorship in Lowell, Massachusetts and transferable college credit to Washington Adventist University. The cost of this golden opportunity is $1,600.00 not including travel expenses. My mother is a single parent and she has done her best to raise and care for my brother and I but it's been difficult due to her medical conditions which leads me to my reason for reaching out to you. As an AP dual enrollment and lifetime honor roll student, I take my education very seriously and hope to continue expanding my knowledge to pursue a career in the medical field. As I continue my educational journey through high school, I have built an academic profile of: taking part in academic societies such as the Future Business Leaders of America and National Honor Society, maintaining a G.P.A above 3.0 (currently 3.6), and volunteering for several school/community events (Special Olympics, church events, set building for plays and assisting the elderly in my neighborhood). Overall my goal is to gain academic experience and represent my city in the best way possible. I want to show members of the community the capability of my school to develop scholarly students and be an example for younger students to excel academically. Any contributions offered would be greatly appreciated, (registration deadline is March 17, 2017). Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
