In Memory of Andre Patterson

Great Loss – Son, brother, husband and father

Andre took a risk and came to Canada as an International student in 2019 to enhance himself and work towards the broader goal of improving the lives of his wife, Jenee and their small children, Jada-Saige and Alexis-Paige. Shortly after he completed his master’s degree, symptoms that were first deemed to be sciatica were diagnosed as a rare, aggressive form of cancer. Despite the deterioration of his body and a worsening prognosis, Andre fought with everything he had to stay alive for his family. However, after nine months battle, on his wife's birthday - cancer won.

What are the right words to capture the devastation loss of Andre on November 5, 2020? How do I describe the breaking of a five and three-year old's heart after being told that this time their daddy would not be returning home from the hospital? Words are hard to find because of the complete turmoil that has ensued with the passing of Andre Patterson at only 35 years old.

Andre’s death has been a hard blow for those he loved and who loved him. You see, Andre was one of the really good ones - a good son, brother, employee, friend.  Most of all, he was a faithful husband and provider for his wife, Jenee and their two girls. After meeting as teenagers, Andre and Jenee have been inseparable -there was no Andre without Jenee and vice versa. With Andre's passing, Jenee now has to think about how to pick up the pieces of their lives without her first love and greatest supporter by her side.  Not only for herself, but now she has to figure out how to achieve the dreams that she and Andre had together for themselves and their children.

While no amount of money can ever make up for Andre's loss, Jenee and the girls really need our help. Being new to Canada and not fully established some of the funds will go towards their legal fees. Secondly, my hope is that Jenee will have enough financial resources to cover their basic needs for the first year, so that they can grieve without the added stress of worrying about daily financial needs. Thirdly, education was very important to Andre and he desired for his girls to have a good education. Therefore, part of the funds raised will he used to start college funds for both Jada-Saige and Alexis-Paige. During this difficult time of COVID, we are grateful for any support that you can provide for this young family during this devastating time.

Thank You and God bless you all!!!
