Shaminee Upeka Haskett, lovingly known as “Peeks,” is a devoted mother, wife, teacher, and friend. She has spent years caring deeply for the people around her, both in her community and in her closest relationships, always showing up with kindness, empathy, and a heart that gives freely, often placing the needs of others before her own.
Just over a week ago, Peeks experienced a sudden and unexplained medical emergency. She fainted, collapsed, and went into cardiac arrest, requiring an emergency C-section at just 25 weeks.
Against overwhelming odds, Peeks survived and is now slowly beginning the long road of recovery. She has now moved out of the ICU, but she remains hospitalized as doctors work to save her leg, support her healing, and ensure her body is strong enough to eventually return home. Her recovery will be long and complex, requiring additional medical care, therapies, and ongoing support for the foreseeable future.
The family’s newborn son, Lincoln Randhika, was born far too early and continues to need deep care and support. The family is taking this moment day by day, surrounded by love and gratitude for everyone standing with them in support of Lincoln.
Although the family has insurance, the financial and practical impact ahead is significant. Extended time away from work, continued hospitalization, rehabilitation, possible prosthetic care, and long-term medical needs will create a heavy burden in the months to come.
Many have asked how to help. Meal trains and hands-on support will be organized when Peeks is able to return home. In the meantime, this GoFundMe has been created to help ease the immediate and long-term financial strain so the family can focus fully on healing and recovery.
If you are able to give, share, or simply send encouragement, it means more than words can express. Thank you for surrounding Peeks, Greg, and their family with care during the most difficult season of their lives.
