Update on the Sgarlata Family
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the passing of Travis Sgarlata on Friday, October 4th, after a long and courageous battle. While we are devastated, we take comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain. Travis fought so hard to stay with Kara and the boys, and we are so grateful for the time that they had and for the time they were able to spend together in his final moments.
In those precious last few hours, Kara and the boys, along with close family, gathered around Travis, holding his hands, snuggling up to him, and sharing sweet memories. The boys, especially, found comfort in recalling funny moments with their dad, bringing warmth and love to his last moments. Kara’s Mom and Aunt Marilyn were able to also speak to him over the phone sending love.
Kara and the boys are staying with us for the time being so we can support them in this incredibly difficult time. Other close family members nearby are also there for her, as well as family that are far away, as they navigate the days ahead.
This is just the beginning of a long journey for Kara and the boys, and we humbly ask for your continued prayers.
We will keep you posted on details for Travis’s Celebration of Life when the time is right. Kara has a lot to take care of right now and isn’t ready to make plans yet, but we anticipate it will be in a few weeks.
Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this time, it means so much to all of us.
