My name is Shinda Bickham and I'm raising money to fund a memorial for my father, Joseph Bickham, who passed away earlier this month (Nov 16).
The specific use of funds will be to commission a memorial in the form of a plaque bearing his name which will be showcased at one of two community sites in Federal Way, Washington, where my brothers and I lived with our mother and father for the vast majority of our youth and young adult lives. The plaque is to be commissioned in partnership with the Outreach division of the Federal Way Little League Baseball Association.
The plaque would be a commemoration of the nearly two decades of community service that our father provided to so many youths of Federal Way as coach and mentor, both on and off of the field.
It would be placed either on a dedicated park bench or a centrally-located building, depending on the site selected.
It's heartbreaking to know that he won't be able to sit on the bench, or see the plaque bearing his name, but heartening to know that he'll be watching others do precisely those things and will know that we never stop wanting a reason to think about him and cherish his memory.
Any assistance that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. We're hoping to reach our ultimate target of $8,000 by December 25th, 2016.
Many thanks in advance for your support.
