Angelica Umanzor Flood Relief

My families house was flooded on May 26, 2015. In more than 20 years of living in this neighborhood it has never flooded. We are asking the help of family and friends and the community to help us restore my families home back to living conditions, so my grandma can go back home.

We've estimated $20,000 - 40,000 in damages and personal property losses. My family did not have insurance for the house. In addition to the repair to the house, her personal belongings and furniture have all been ruined by the Black Water Flood.

I measured 8 inches on the water line that entered her entire home. The water line is even higher outside the front door. With no help, it has been very hard trying to clean out the damaged items and removing the water in the house. In the picture here, you can see a little of what's already been removed. There is a lot more to discard before the house can be repaired. Items that can be saved will have to go into a storage unit for 2 - 3 months before the repairs can even start.


Damages to House: Sheet rock & insulation 4-5 ft high to be removed, all wood flooring is buckled, wood panels on walls buckled, all cabinets and tubs to be removed, garage in rear is also damaged, Door frames are swollen,.. and much more that we haven't seen yet until they start removing all of our belongings. Fridgerator and dishwasher no longer work. All food was destroyed since there is no working refrigerator. Phone lines are down.
