Lucca is a true miracle in our lives, but he urgently needs help.

Since he came into the world, he has faced enormous challenges, but he has never stopped showing us his strength and will to live. Against all odds, he has been fighting since day one… and he is here.

When he was born, Lucca suffered severe oxygen deprivation and had to be resuscitated for 40 minutes — he overcame death. The first days were filled with anguish and uncertainty in the neonatal ICU. He did not respond to stimuli, not even pain. At one extremely critical moment, doctors began the brain death protocol… but it was never completed. Lucca resisted. He lived.

During this period, he faced seizures, infections, and pneumonia — and overcame each one of these battles. Today, Lucca is almost 3 years old and has been diagnosed with severe Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy, resulting from birth asphyxia.

He depends on a tracheostomy, uses mechanical ventilation 24 hours a day, requires oxygen support, and is exclusively fed through a gastrostomy tube due to severe dysphagia.

At almost 3 years old, Lucca still does not speak, walk, sit, or have head and trunk control. He also has low vision and moderate bilateral hearing loss, and he has never lived a typical childhood.

Even so, he continues fighting every single day.

To support his development, Lucca undergoes continuous and essential daily therapies, including motor physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy specialized in dysphagia, auditory rehabilitation, visual stimulation, and respiratory physiotherapy. All of this is aimed at helping him achieve small but meaningful developmental victories.

But now, a new hope has emerged.

A treatment called Cytotron, performed in Mexico, has shown promising results in children with neurological conditions like Lucca’s. It was featured in the Netflix film “The Two Hemispheres of Lucca.” This treatment stimulates the brain to create new connections and better use its developmental capacity. Most importantly, the earlier it is performed, the greater the chances of progress, due to neuroplasticity — which is especially strong in early childhood.

This may be Lucca’s chance to achieve things he cannot yet do…

such as holding his head up, moving more freely, maybe taking his first steps…

and even feeling the taste of food for the first time, as he has never eaten orally. It may also give him the chance to experience a more typical childhood.

More than a treatment, this represents the possibility of offering Lucca a more dignified childhood full of possibilities. But this opportunity comes at a high cost.

The treatment costs around 37,000 USD, and with all additional expenses — such as travel, 35-day accommodation, food, insurance, and documentation — the total reaches approximately 60,000 USD.

In addition, Lucca also needs essential equipment for his daily development and quality of life:

• Zing Portable Vertical Stander, with 30° abduction, essential for posture and preventing hip dislocation — $9,370 USD

• KidWalk 2 posterior walker fully adapted with supports, locks, and adjustments — $16,990 USD

These devices are essential to support his positioning, posture, strength, and opportunities for movement, as well as to prevent deformities and future surgeries.

That is why we created this campaign.
