WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH GETTING THE HUGE COST OF A BRAND NEW A/C SYSTEM FOR OUR GYM REDUCED WITH A DONATION OF ANY KIND!
In 2010, Hotshots Athletics opened it’s doors in Central Florida. Coach Robert Soler, with the help of his family, created a special place where athletes have been able to grow physically and personally in a safe, accepting and competitive environment. Over the last 10 years, Hotshots has been the place where kids and young adults have grown up playing basketball. Some have gone off to play in college, while others learned to play and love the game. It is amazing to watch kids grow in the training programs and then see the improvements when they play in the leagues. From one year to the next, you can see the kids’ confidence grow along with their skills and self-esteem.
Hotshots has excellent instructors and Coach Robert holds them to a high standard in striving for excellence. One of the things I hear from parents is how affordable the prices are compared to other programs. They can’t believe the quality they are getting for their money. I have had many conversations with Coach Robert and his focus is to help the kids grow on and off the court. He never turns a kid away. Many of you know what I am talking about.
Recently, the air conditioner for the gym was destroyed by a surge in the electrical system. Coach Robert explained that the air conditioning unit had been struck by lightning. He submitted a claim to his insurance company and figured it would be fixed in no time. Unfortunately, the insurance company claims there were no lightning strikes reported in the area at the time when the A/C unit went out, so the claim was denied.
Coach Robert moved on to a private adjuster because he didn’t feel the insurance company was right. The adjuster stated that the fact there was no report of lightning in the area, combined with the age of the unit, the claim could not be approved. These unfortunate chain of events left Coach Robert and Hotshots to come up with the $12,500 to replace the unit.
The Corona virus has brought forward many challenges for all of us. Hotshots was shut down for several months and in turn was unable to generate their usual revenue. Coach Robert was left with a dilemma in replacing the air conditioning unit:
1. Fund it through personal debt
2. Close down Hotshots
3. Reluctantly reach out and ask for help
After some prodding, Coach Robert has agreed to let me post this request. Over the years many of you have been involved in some way with Hotshots, either your child or a child you know has participated in a Hotshots program. Maybe you played on an open gym night or you were at Hotshots with a group that rented out the gym. I am reaching out to all of you and beyond.
We all know the importance of an air conditioner in Florida!! That is why I am asking for your help by donating money to help fund the A/C unit for Hotshots. If you are not in a place to help, I ask that you please repost this on social media. If everyone gives what they can, this is an opportunity to HELP a great organization, a great man and most of all our Community’s youth/athletes!
Thank you in advance for your kindness and support.
