Tyler’s Recovery
Donation protected
On September 4th, 2020, local 22 year old Whitehorse man, Tyler Blanchard, was pushed off a deck behind the Whitehorse Public Library. The fall resulted in Tyler landing on his neck, up against a tree. This shattered a vertebra in his lower neck; when rushed to the hospital, he had no feeling in his legs and experienced numbness in his arms and shoulders.
He was medivaced to Vancouver on Sept 4th, and had a 7 hour surgery the following day. (5th) The doctor reported there will be permanent damage due to cords being severed, but currently, they are unaware of which ones.
He will be in VGH for approximately 3 weeks, then transferred to GF Strong Rehabilitation center. Tyler’s dad is flew down on the 6th, but his mom, girlfriend and family members are desperately wanting to be with him in the coming weeks. The financial costs of an emergency like this can add up very quickly for the family; Last year his dad fought stage 4 cancer and is now in remission. He is still recovering from his treatments and hasn't been able to work. This year has been a hard one for the family, more specifically Tyler’s father, who has experienced 7 losses (a sister, a niece, a close cousin, and 4 very close friends).
At the end of September, Dad will return for surgery to repair damage from radiation - This is when Mom will go down to be with Tyler.
Can you help the local family with easing some of the financial burdens from the family? Every single dollar counts!!!
And if you can’t donate financially, the family asks for prayers and help, by taking time to visualize him walking again. The Family remains hopeful that he will walk again!
Thank you for your support!
You never cease to amaze me, Yukon!
