Two Men and a Kidney!

The gift of love was not the only thing given to Reid on his wedding day, the gift of life from his husband Rafael would soon be realized a few months later. Reid and Rafael were a match not only in love but a kidney match. The news was like something out of a Hallmark movie, the true testament of selfless love. Since Reid was on the transplant list in Colorado and Indiana the transplant would be possible back here in Indiana where Reid is from. The transplant will take place at IU Methodist Hospital where Reid originally started his care for Alport Syndrome at the age of 17.

Reid has persevered through many obstacles since his diagnosis, from high school then college to moving from Indiana to Colorado establishing a new life for himself. Reid's diagnosis never stopped him from achieving his aspirations while he anxiously awaited a new kidney. Little did he know his move to Colorado would also lead him to the love of his life and that he would be his kidney donor.

Reid and Rafael need our help now. The transplant not only affects Reid but also his husband Rafael since he is the donor. The couple has had to leave their home in Colorado as well as taking leave from their jobs. If all goes well they will be in Indiana for approximately three months before returning to their home and jobs. This is a love story worthy of our help Emoji
