Troy's Army

My name is Jaime Legere and I have started this GoFundMe page for one of the biggest hearts I know, Troy D’Andrea. After a car accident in 2021, Troy was not able to return to work with the Commissionaires NS posted at the Fortress of Louisbourg due to concussion complications, memory loss along with neck & shoulder pain. This left him and his wife, Marion to survive on her income.

As if things weren’t hard enough, on May 7th Troy’s life was flipped upside down when he was diagnosed with Gleason Grade 9 aggressive prostate cancer. And on May 27th he found out there is a growth on top of his left kidney.

Troy and Marion are selfless people. I met the couple in 2010, a few years after Marion’s breast cancer diagnoses that included a single mastectomy and treatments. I was working for the Canadian Breast foundation where they volunteered as volunteer run directors for our Sydney, NS Run for the Cure site. They volunteered as Lead volunteers for five years , helping us raise hundreds of thousand dollars for the breast cancer cause.

Their hearts are huge and really need our help. When I spoke with Marion earlier she mentioned that they don’t like asking for help. It’s not something they want to do, but know they are going to need a village to fight this.

Troy will be having surgery to remove his prostate and could be looking at 30 radiation treatments. With the surgery, treatments, and check-ups, that’s likely 100 trips to and from the hospital that will be needed. Marion will be missing a lot of work, trying to juggle caring for Troy, paying regular bills, medical expenses for supplies and her career. The travel and every day bills have already started piling up and they need our help. Please help me take some of those burdens off of them.
