Transparency in Troy
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Ann Erickson Gault, and I need your help in bringing transparency and accountability to Troy Michigan.
In 2016, a whistleblower reported misconduct involving Brian Kischnick, our Troy City Manager. His misconduct was investigated and detailed in a confidential report given to the City Council in August 2016.
After the report was presented to Troy City Council, three members were willing to release the report. However, the majority of council decided to hide behind attorney-client privilege and shield this information from the public. If you watch the Council meeting from that night (video attached), you'll see that some members of Council were forceful in their willingness to sweep this under the rug.
So four members our City Council believe that the citizens of Troy do not have a right to know about the City Manager's admitted wrongdoing.
I can't accept that.
So, in January 2017, I sued Troy to force them to release documents detailing Kischnick's misconduct.
Here's the thing: Because the city is stonewalling, I am forced to pay the legal fees out of pocket. Right now, my fees and costs exceed $5,000.
Thus, I need your help as I attempt to force the City of Troy to release information about our City Manager's wrongdoings.
With a favorable ruling, this suit may be resolved as early as March 2017. If I win, the City will have to reimburse my attorney fees.
In the meantime, please help me raise funds to pay my upfront legal fees and costs. Any amount donated will defer my upfront costs and help me shoulder this burden. Any excess funds raised, or costs recovered will be donated to a nonprofit fighting for government accountability.
Thank you!
