Tri to end Brain Cancer
Donation protected
For the last 6+ months, I have been training to complete the Chicago Transamerica Triathlon which will take place on Sunday August 30th. The inspiraton to complete this challenging event is to celebrate the life of my mom who lost her life to brain cancer and raise money to fight this awful disease.
For those who knew her, still can hear her laugh, remember spontaneityand know how bold she could be. Her strength has carried me through my darkest times and her love for life has taught me to value every minute.
Today, 20 years later, I am the same age she was when she passed. I decided in January that I would live this year the way she would: full of love, laughter and be bold.I have trained extensively; weekly working with a trainer, going to pilates, miles of biking, swimming and running. I've come a long way considering I couldn't even run a mile without wanting to pass out when I started. I conquered a fear of water and can now swim almost a mile. I can now complete each phase and grow increasingly more motivated as I remember why I started this to begin with.
By donating, my company, Gap Inc. will match dollar for dollar. Please consider supporting me and any donation counts. I am looking to raise $3800 as she died at 38yrs old.I will be donating $2500 and fund raising the additional $1300 to donate to the National Brain Tumore Association http://braintumor.org
The donation will support advocacy, research, healthcare and support of patients and families as they battle this disease together. NBA won't stop until a cure is found.
She was brave, bold and fought for 5 years to live. Through the training the last 6 months, she has once again taught me to live life, conquer my fears and once again, believe anything is possible.
