Help fund our Trans* & Queer
Southeast Asian Organizer's Retreat!
Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,
We are organizing a weekend retreat for 15 Southeast Asian Trans* and Queer community organizers on Intersectional Justice in St. Paul, Minnesota, August 17 - 18, 2013. The retreat is to create a space as organizers to mentor each other, get hands on training and facilitating workshops, critically analyze the current state of the Southeast Asian Trans* and Queer community movement as it relates to the larger social and political movement in Mn, and plan around that with our 2014 Hmong/SEA LGBTQ Justice and Equity campaign.
We are seeking your support of $30, $50 or $100 in making this retreat possible. As supporters of the Hmong/Southeast Asian LGBTQ community and supporters of the work of the individual organizers in our collective, your donation will enable activists and scholars in understanding the importance of social justice work, activism, and service learning in their community. Can you help make a contribution right now to support our work?
From this retreat, we plan to create a body of knowledge, resources and tools for activists, and community members to learn and utilize. We will develop 1 workshop "˜Southeast Asian Feminists at the Intersections', an online Zine documenting our Experiences as People of Color Organizers in Minnesota, and through writing and video, document 15 of our own Trans* & Queer Southeast Asian stories to expand our Raising UP the Hmong LGBTQQI Narratives Campaign. We hope that these resources, tools and documented narratives will allow for new conversations to arise within our SEA community, resources for education, and for emerging and experienced activists to initiate new projects relating to intersectional justice.
Your donation right now of $30, $50 or $100, and this retreat can help put our organized Hmong/Southeast Asian LGBTQ movement on the map towards equity and justice and building alliances in Minnesota.
