U.S. Trans Woman Seeks Safety for Herself & Others

This journey has grown into something bigger than my own survival.

When I started this campaign, I mentioned the vision for “LGBTQI+ Associació Far” – a resource network to help other queer and trans people understand how to seek safety outside the United States.

That vision is now real, and it's growing faster than I imagined.

Since launching in March 2026, LGBTQI+ Associació Far has brought together a volunteer team spanning multiple countries, with expertise in nonprofit operations, media production, cybersecurity, policy, and communications. We're building the infrastructure to help people navigate the asylum process, relocate safely, and access the resources they need – whether they're leaving the U.S. entirely or moving from hostile states to safer ground.
This campaign still supports my personal survival through the asylum process; that need hasn't changed. But every dollar now also helps sustain the work I'm doing to help build pathways for those who need a way out but don’t know where to start.

By supporting this campaign, you are not only helping a transgender woman remain stable during a legally mandated period without work authorization. You’re also enabling the continued development of LGBTQI+ Associació Far, a grassroots network building escape routes for queer and trans people.

Help a Trans Chick build a path to safety and a lifeline for others.

My name is Alexandria Kate Isett. I’m a 36-year-old transgender woman from the United States who recently fled my home country and sought asylum in Catalunya, Spain in order to live safely and openly as myself.

Over the past several years, the political climate in the United States has become increasingly hostile toward transgender people. Laws targeting our healthcare, our legal identities, and even our right to exist in public life have spread across multiple states. At the same time, the national rhetoric surrounding trans people has intensified, making daily life feel increasingly unsafe.

After carefully documenting these risks and preparing my case, I made the difficult decision to leave a fully established life in San Antonio, Tx doing fine-dining behind and seek protection in Spain.

I arrived with a legal asylum application, a plan, and a determination to build a new life. But like many asylum seekers, I face a difficult reality: during the first six months of the asylum process in Spain, applicants are not legally allowed to work. This means I must survive, integrate into a new country, and build stability without income during that period.

Your support will help cover essential living costs while my case is processed, including:
 • Housing and basic living
 • Food and travel expenses
 • Medication continuity
 • Legal and administrative costs related to my asylum case
 • Language classes and integration resources
• Ballet classes, as I plan to start teaching again as soon as I'm legally allowed to work in Spain.

But this journey is about more than my survival. While navigating the asylum process, I began building a project that I hope will help other transgender people facing the same danger I did.

The goal is to create a resource network, LGBTQI+ Associació Far, that helps queer individuals understand how to seek safety in Spain — including guidance on documentation, housing, healthcare, and navigating the asylum system.
Many people who need this information simply don’t know where to start. If successful, this project could become a lifeline for trans people who feel trapped and unsafe, providing free, clear, accessible guidance for those seeking refuge.

By supporting this campaign, you are helping:
 • A transgender woman rebuild her life safely
 • An asylum seeker remain stable during a legally mandated period without work
 • The creation of a resource pathway that could help other trans people find safety

Leaving your home country is never easy. Leaving because you fear for your safety is even harder. But I believe that something meaningful can grow from this experience — not just for me, but for others who may need the same path one day.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting this journey. It's truly the experience of a lifetime.

With gratitude,
Alexandria Kate Isett
