FIRE DESTROYED GABY’S HOME IN CUTLER BAY

 

We are posting this fundraiser on behalf of our sister MariaGabriela Gaby GuerreroSánchez, her son Humberto, and her boyfriend Chris Ley, an ex UM football player from the 1983 National Championship team who now is disabled. The three of them lived in this single family home.

Our sister Gaby came to this country with very little money, and for 40 years she has worked extremely hard sometimes having two jobs at a time and at night shifts to save up to buy this house, to provide for her three children and to accomplish the American Dream of owing her own home. She can’t work any longer as she is disabled. The house has had home insurance all these years except for the current year as the Home Owner Insurances are very expensive in Florida, and they couldn’t afford it. One third of the house was burned, and it’s unlivable, and now they are homeless. Gaby, Humberto and their dog got out of the house safely and unharmed, but unfortunately her boyfriend Chris Ley suffered first degree burns on both arms from the fingertips up to elbows, his face and head. He had to be airlifted to the burn unit where he was operated on his burns successfully.

 We ask anyone who can find it in their heart to please help them to rebuild their house and their lives back from this tragedy.
