On Sunday 7th September, my dad and I will be travelling to Glasgow to take on the Tour de 4 cycling challenge - a 90km route with 3,772ft of hills.

This event was organised by the great Sir Chris Hoy to raise awareness for Stage 4 cancers. Prior to Sir Chris Hoy's own Stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis, I spent much of my indoor training listening to his stories of how he achieved six Olympic gold medals for Great Britain. The psychology behind his achievements, his dedication to his craft, and his legacy in cycling are truly incredible. The relentless effort he put in every day over his 16-year career, to be enough to win by the smallest of margins, is why he will always be an all-time great.

My dad has always had a passion for cycling; he's the reason I fell in love with the sport. He has played an indispensable role in helping my mum fight her Stage 4 Glioblastoma diagnosis since 2018. He has never left her side during the many stints she's had in Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital, followed by sleepless nights spent keeping their business running. He is an unsung hero and someone I will always look up to with the highest admiration.

It's a great privilege to take on this challenge together, supporting The Brain Tumour Charity to help find a cure for people like my mum who are diagnosed every day.
